A Pownal man was held on $15,000 bail after he was arraigned Monday in Bennington District Court for resisting arrest and violating his conditions of release.

While investigating a single vehicle rollover crash in Pownal, police ended up charging a New York man with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Rescue personnel were at the old Pownal Tanning Co. dam on the Hoosic River in North Pownal Wednesday night after an overturned small boat was noticed Tuesday evening bobbing beneath the dam falls.

Much of the cost to fix a culvert partially washed out on the North Pownal Road Tuesday may be covered by a grant the town received earlier in the year to replace the culvert anyway.

The Mooar-Wright House is in the process of being purchased and renovated. The house, located next to the Solomon Wright Library in North Pownal, is believed by its current owner to have been built in the 1750s, although no documents have been found to confirm the date, or even who constructed it.
