Chaplain Elmer 'Sandy' Aakre of Vermillion retired from the South Dakota Army National Guard in February 2010.

Twelve horses and three dogs were taken from a farm near Spencer, South Dakota. Officials saying the animals were in very poor condition and in the need of proper food and shelter.

The McCook County Sheriff's Office says it has seized 12 horses from a farm near Spencer.
