Fourteen months after beginning their fight against a proposed cell phone tower in their neighborhood, residents tasted victory Thursday night.

A Monmouth County man was struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 9 at the intersection of East Freehold Road in Freehold this morning, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

Route 9 north is closed near East Freehold Road because of an accident investigation.
