PASADENA >> Hoping to bolster opposition to the 710 Freeway tunnel project, Mayor Terry Tornek is proposing a November ballot measure that would ask voters to repeal a 2001 vote supporting the completion of the freeway through the city. “The measure that voters approved would not allow the City of Pasadena to take affirmative steps opposing the completion of the 710 extension,” said City Attorney Michele Bagneris.

It is going to take a while for the new Hollywood Burbank Airport name to start showing up around Los Angeles, an official said Friday. SOUTH PASADENA >> A jury convicted a parolee Wednesday of kidnapping and other charges in connection with a home-invasion robbery and attack targeting an elderly South Pasadena woman in 2012, officials said. An Los Angeles County Superior Court Jury in Alhambra deliberated for less than a day before finding Alonzo Bernard Johnson, 53, of Los Angeles guilty of robbery, kidnapping to commit robbery and burglary in connection with the Aug. 6, 2012, crime at the victim's home in the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue , Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said in a written statement .

San Pedro native Misty Copeland will return to Los Angeles in July for two performances in American Ballet Theatre's production of “The Firebird” at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Music Center announced Wednesday. Copeland, who became the company's first black prima ballerina last year , will dance the leading role in choreographer Alexei Ratmansky's version of the Igor Stravinsky classic July 7 and 9 with a principal cast that includes fellow Southern California native Stella Abrera.
The arrests were made on Friday by a multi-jurisdictional team that included personnel from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement; the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department; the Pasadena, Glendale and Monterey Park police departments; and the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
