The family of a 45-year-old Sunland woman who was last seen in La Crescenta in early June is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to her being found. Kimberly Blum was last seen around 4 p.m. on June 5 in the 2000 block of Cinco Casitas Lane, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department .

Two local residents, one from La Crescenta and another from La Caada Flintridge, were among those caught up in an early morning raid in the Los Angeles Fashion District Wednesday in connection with investigations into alleged money laundering schemes linked to Mexican and other international drug cartels, KTLA reported . Los Angeles has turned into the "epicenter" of such drug money laundering operations, federal officials said in discussing what they referred to as "Operation Fashion Police."
Hundreds of federal agents swarmed through the downtown Los Angeles Fashion District today, arresting nine people and seizing $65 million as part of a crackdown on what prosecutors called a sophisticated operation to launder money for Mexican drug cartels. The raids coincided with the unsealing of three federal indictments, one of which alleged that a Fashion District business was laundering ransom money payments made to secure the release of a U.S. citizen who was kidnapped and tortured in Mexico by the Sinaloa drug cartel.
A well-known dirt lot on the corner of Rosemont and Orange avenues is being transformed into a new community fixture in La Crescenta with help from dozens of volunteers. For the past few weeks, the site has been cleared for a granite pathway, stone benches and future vegetation during workdays coordinated by the Crescenta Valley Town Council, said Robbyn Battles, the council's president.
